The Beavers Club was the name of the Memphis lodge for the fraternal organization known as the Independent Order of Beavers or I.O.O.B.  The IOOB was founded in March 1904 when Dam #1 was opened in Birmingham, AL. Nine months later on December 15, 1904 Dam #11 opened in Memphis.  For the first several years of its existence Dam #11 met at a place call the Italian Hall.  Around 1911 they got their own place at 195 South Main St. This place was known as the Beavers Club.  In 1916 Dam #11 moved to 6-8 North 2nd St.

 

Here is a 1908 Letterhead from the New Orleans Dam #43.  Note that the beaver graphic is somewhat similar to the graphic on the chip
