Charles MacDonald, a member of the
Links Club, located at 36 East 62nd Street in New York City was the
driving force behind the creation of the Links Golf Club on Shelter Rock
Road in Roslyn, Long Island. MacDonald (who is mentioned in the
article below) also designed the National Links golf course at
Shinnecock Hills -- a course which the article claims was the greatest
course on earth, that is, until the Links Golf Club. The National

Below can be seen the outline of
what used to be
the Links Golf course in Roslyn, Long Island. The site, now a
housing development, was
developed in 1988 as The Links at North Hills. Note that the
names of various roads in the development are named after US golf
courses.
