Pemberton Hotel 1922 USPC
Main Street
Hull, MA 02045 A. Dougherty delivered to Eastern Talking Machine Co., Boston, MA

The chip, made by the US Playing Card Company ("USPC"), was ordered by chip distributor A. Dougherty located in New York City for sale to The Eastern Talking Machine Company of Boston, MA ("ETMCB").  The ETMCB was partially owned by George Dodge.  Since the ETMCB was not a chip distributor it is a good assumption that the chips were ordered by an employee of the company.  In many such instances it has been found that the buyer of the chips is also the owner of the company.

When the chips were ordered, Dodge was also owner and operator of a resort outside of Boston called the Pemberton Inn and its adjacent Pemberton Hotel.

Dodge died on September 21, 1922, two months after the chips were ordered.
