Probably the most famous member of the Queen City Club was Cincinnati native William Howard Taft, the only man to have held the offices of both President and Chief Justice of the United States. On November 5th 1908 William Jennings Bryan,  after his 3rd Presidential election loss, telegraphed Taft, who was in Cincinnati, congratulating him on his election victory and wishing his administration the best of luck.
