Sheehan Brothers

1918 USPC

Pendleton, OR
Below is a snip from the 1941-42 Pendleton city directory which I think provides sufficient evidence that cards were played there.

Three Sheehan brothers--William, Howard & Joe--opened up a billiard hall/cardroom called the "Cozy" in Pendleton, Oregon in the 1910's and ran it there at least into the 1930's.  All three died in Portland, OR:  William and Howard in the 40's and Joe in 1966.  Joe was supposedly a bootlegger (a pool hall run by a bootlegger--think they gambled some there?).  Their nephew Pat is still involved in the billiard business in Portland (apparently one of the top table restorers in the world).

I spoke with Pat in 2011 who verified the story.

The "Cozy" is pictured below.
